Scenario #8 LCdr TaskForce57 (RN) vs Kk RvM (KM)*

September 7th, 1939. North Sea off the German coast

HMS Wolverine (LCdr TF57 Commanding Officer) in company with HMS Verity is cruising off the German coast as part of a decoy. They are the bait of an ambitious plan. The goal is to lure German surface units out of harbor, and towards the NW where aircraft from HMS Courageous will pounce on them.

Kk RvM has been given a hastily formed command. A U-boat has spotted the Courageous and it's escorts, while aerial reconnaissance has reported the two destroyers operating off the coast. Suspecting a trap, high command will only authorize the detachment of 3 pairs of S-boats to launch an attack on the destroyers. It is suspected that their ultimate goal is to mine a harbor entrance. Surprisingly, Luftwaffe support will be available for this operation.


Orders:
TaskForce57: Fight off the S-boat attack. Use the limited air support provided by Courageous wisely.

RvM: Sink the two prowling destroyers. Fighters will be on hand to support you.

Map: Battlemap 03 in rulebook. No objectives. RN deploys to the west, KM to the east.

I lost init turn 1 so I have to place first, my hurricane is not deploying in turn one... the pilot is still drinking his tea.

my  rolls were for turn 2, if you want to change your turn 1 air move please do so.

They were for fighter  placement you won  (the first pair of dice were the initial placement dice), I had tp place first , so we now start with Init for turn 2

Actually you have to roll for each sucessful attack...

If you roll your saves the same order as my attacks you were hit by the 1st torpedo attack (Javelin sunk)

the second sucessful attack were 2 hits (6 result) vs 2 armor main gunnery from my S group. this group also fired a torp attack - you did not roll a save against that ttack.

anyways I use my Small ship evasion for my S3 group Rolls: (1d6)    - need a 5 or 6

Thanks for the game.

Actually I think it was eeasy for me -
I got the better fighter
My ships could go hiding
I have 6 attacks per round (not counting the plane) and could evade damage from your attacks while you could get either 1 attack + smoke OR 2 attacks per turn (my boats are immune to torps)


IMHO yo never had a fighting chance - maybe with 3 DDs

I might add my dice were  hot, while yours were only "average" I think
