Scenario #3 LCdr TaskForce57 (RN) vs Kk RvM (KM)*

September 3rd, 1939. North Sea off the German coast

LCdr TF57 is aboard the submarine HMS Unity is tracking a small German coastal convoy when a war-warning is broadcast. He is ordered to attack the German merchant ship, suspected of being a minelayer.

Kk RvM aboard Z-21 makes contact and orders the merchant ship to take evasive action and closes in on the sub.

Orders:
TaskForce57: Sink the merchant ship, causing it's escort to flee. You may not enter the same square as the merchant ship, or any that it has passed through, as it may be laying mines.

RvM: Sink the enemy submarine or suppress it enough to allow the merchant ship to move all the way to the western edge of the map.

Map: Battlemap 06 in rulebook. No objectives. RN deploys to the west, KM to the east.

Merchant Ship (Nordmark model, but with the stats of the transport from the WAS Rulebook's convoy scenario)

Can you post a map? - I am not a computer guru

Its map 6 from the WAS Advanced Rules (came in the starter box)

BTW I think its a luck game - if you manage to throw a 6 you will win

Never could work out maps... I have downloaded map 6 and printed it out with added numbers and letters  1-12 \ A-G.

My sub will deploy D5[/img]

if I am correct D5 would be the square just Northwest of the midle objective?

I went to Wizards... downloaded  advanced rules, then clicked copy on map 6 and dragged it over to word where I magnified the sucker to a full page then printed. The lines are kinda faint so A pen and ruler migh be in order!

May I add that you "only" have 2 dice.

Tru: basic 4
-1 for ASW threat (DD)
-1 for being crippled (ASW is in the surface attack phase, so its in effect already in the Sub attack phase.
=2 two remaining dice

If I count correctly I will need 11 turns to reach the opposite side of the Map

So I hope you don't roll too many 6s

You must now try to cross the map and I must try to sink you ...

Our speeds the same, Im on -1 to torps for the cripple and can not enter any square you have had your merchant in...

Or to put it in simple terms, you have to pray that I fail to roll a "6" in 10 consecutive turns.

Well....

Royal navy Torpedo marksmanship was never that great... but 2 hits out of twenty torpedos fired gets the job done.

Your ASW roll was damn near good enough to end the game there and then.
I hope your admiral is understanding and promotes you anyway....I will send a message to Keil asking them to award you an iron cross and get them to send a boat to pick you up.

Games on this scale are often decided by luck, but thats completely OK with me as its realisic

ok..... After swimming about for a week or so I have made landfall on the northumbria coast, had a pint and a pork pie and am now fit for active duty after costing the king two of his destroyers!

Working on the assumption that i am not made to walk the plank... when will I be asked to go to sea again and will I be given command of something larger then a life- boat?
